    Ants

Ants are a nuisance. The most common area you will find ants is the Kitchen, as this is the most attractive for them. They are encouraged by sweet, sugary and fatty foods and will find their way into any food that is open or exposed. Even if it is in a cupboard. Garden ants range from 5mm to 15mm in size, their bodies are black.

Worker ants can be seen in gardens foraging for food to take back to the nest. Colonies can reach up to around 15,000 workers in size, but 4,000 - 7,000 is around average for most ants nests. We treat the problem using a powder based spray which is used around the areas in which they travel. This poisons the ant and when they return to the nest or over other ants, they too become poisoned.

    Bed Bugs

Bed bugs are insects that can invade a property and feed off of human blood. Mainly found on and in mattresses, however there are many different places that bed bugs can be lurking. Bed bugs are treated with an inescticide Any soft furnishings will require washing at a minimum temperature of 60 degrees in a washing machine.

Everything within the affected rooms requires removal, only mattresses and wardobes are to stay in the room, a powder based treatment is used around electrical sockets, TV ariel sockets and light switches. Water based insecticides are then used to treat the room.

    Wasps

Wasp nests come in many different shapes and sizes. From fist to football size. Wasps will seek out dark areas and they can be found in lofts, porches, trees, garden sheds, garages, chimneys and other nooks in and around a property.

Treatment for wasps involves injecting a pesticide dust into the nest and entrance holes. The wasps will become very active afterwards and the whole area should be avoided. Activity generally dies down after 24 hours but some wasps may still be seen up to 3 days after. The removal of a wasp nest is tricky and dangerous. Wasp nests are best dealt with safely by a qualified pest controller, so call us today!

    Bird Proofing

Pigeons and birds can breed at the age of six months. Bird droppings are unsightly and their acid corrodes stonework and damages buildings. Droppings on pavements can become slippery when wet and pose a hazard to passing pedestrians. Droppings, nest material and dead birds can block guttering and drains and cause water damage to buildings. In addition dead pigeons in uncovered water tanks can contaminate the water supply.

Birds, their nests and eggs are protected by law, and it is illegal to destroy or interfere with them except under licence. Even where their destruction is licensed, non-lethal methods must be considered first, and many killing methods are outlawed. Lethal methods should always be left to pest control professionals. Preventing pigeons from nesting on buildings and fouling is a specialist job and requires the services of a specialist pest controller who deals with Bird Proofing.
